Since moving to NYC

WOW, I really did it. I moved to the big apple and changed my life in an instant.

Moving across the country, I definitely experienced fear of the unknown, asking was this the right thing to do? And honestly in life I just believe if you want something you have to, have to, have to… go get it.

The first few months of living here was a lot of organizing my apartment, getting settled and exploring the city. I had two successful bicoastal hairdresser trips back to LA that were a blast but defiantly stressful with planning ahead and staying focused. The best part of being bicoastal is seeing my amazing clients and hearing about all of their amazing accomplishments. I am so grateful to have the clientele I have. They are so loyal, genuine and patient.

Even though working crazy hours when I was full time back in LA was hard at times, I will always love the hustle of doing hair, day in and day out. In NYC I don’t have a consistent clientele yet and that is to be expected; it typically doesn’t happen for at least 6 months or longer. Anyway soon enough I’m gonna be booked in LA and NYC and not know what to do with myself. #HALP

When I moved I expected to work in a shop in the city but ended up working with my other friend @asil in Astoria at our other buddies new shop @rarastudionyc . Wow Asil, Dorian and his people are the best ever and I would describe them as family. They have been so supportive and have helped me build my confidence in a new city. Asil and I have become great friends, he also hosted a class at @thenetworksalon a few weeks ago owned by our friend @iamginabianca. She’s awesome too. I’m excited to do more traveling, attending classes and meet more hair friends this year that are impacting this industry in such a radical way.

Doing freelance in the city has been fun, networking and enjoying the summer but excited to get back on that grind here in Soho.
